making minerals matter

Raising awareness of the role of minerals in life is a major preoccupation for Daybreak. One of its most recent commissions has been to research and write a briefing for the CBI Minerals Group.  The publication was a key part of the pack for the successful Living With Minerals 2 conference at the QE 2 Conference Centre in London.

Daybreak director Barrie Hedges has spent much of his career raising awareness of the role that different minerals play in daily life. While other PR people prefer to focus on cars and perfume, his day is more likely to be dominated by aggregates, cement, salt and gas. He also led communications for the successful Minerals ’98 initiative, which brought a diverse group of industries together under one banner for promotion to the public, with over 100 open days and other events.

The opportunity to write a new Living with minerals brochure for the CBI was, therefore, a project he welcomed. The brochure was one of the key documents for a major conference at the QE2 Conference Centre in Westminster in November which preceded the launch at the House of Commons of the UK National Minerals Forum.
